Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) invites qualified and experienced organizations to submit proposals for the role of UK Process Agent to support compliance with contractual requirements for an upcoming National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)-funded project titled, “A political economy and comparative analysis of the politics and governance of mobility in African cities.”
Scope of Work
The UK Process Agent will:
- Manage the grant contract in accordance with NIHR guidelines.
- Provide financial oversight, including reconciliation and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with NIHR policies and regulations.
- Facilitate communication between MakSPH and NIHR.
- Provide regular reports and updates.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Certificate of registration in Uganda, with a demonstrable capacity to provide legal services in Uganda.
- Profile of the Firm. Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in representing clients in England is preferred.
- Profiles and CVs of key legal partners/experts.
- Recommendation letters from at least two (2) existing clients, and at least one (1) previous client preferably, involving Ugandan institutions or clients needing representation in England. Recommendations should clearly detail the type of services offered to the client and must be addressed to Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH).
- Certificate of Incorporation.
- Valid practicing certificates of the firm and partners (whose CVs are provided as per (3) above).
- Current Tax clearance certificate.
- Proposed retainer fee and payment terms; and
- Detailed description of services to be provided under retainer. Also indicate exceptions that are covered under retainer.
- Demonstrable experience representing clients in international cases, specifically as an agent for service of process or in similar roles requiring multi-jurisdictional representation.
- Experience dealing with legal matters related to research funding, contractual obligations and representation for educational or research institutions is an added advantage.
Submission Requirements
Interested applicants should submit:
- A cover letter expressing interest in serving as MakSPH’s England process agent;
- Documentation of qualifications, including proof of England linkage or affiliation;
- A profile of the firm / individual (full name, physical addresses, contacts);
- Evidence of prior experience with similar roles;
- Proof of legal registration of the firm;
- Proposed fee structure, including any retainer fees; and
- Contact details for at least two references relevant to this role.
