Post-Graduate Training Opportunity

The Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) Hub for Eastern Africa is inviting applications for support to the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Health Services Research (MHSR) degree programs at Makerere University of Public Health.  The Hub has the goal of improving environmental and occupational health as well as examining health-related issues of climate change in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.  The Hub is supported by the US National Institutes of Health through a grant to Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, (for research) and Columbia University, USA, (for training) with Makerere University (Uganda) and the University of Nairobi (Kenya) as research partner spokes. In addition, the other training partner countries include Rwanda, Ghana and Cameroon. 

Appropriate candidates are expected to have;

  • Demonstrated interest in and capacity for environmental health research
  • Leadership potential
  • Academic background (prior degrees)
  • Evidence of success (grades, work experience)

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates already admitted into the above post-graduate training programs at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health.  Candidates with an interest in conducting research in the areas of Air pollution, Occupational Safety and Health, and Climate Change will have an added advantage. This position goes to candidates in the academic year 2021/2022.  

About the Scholarship

This scholarship will support research activities related to the thematic areas mentioned above.
