COURSE OVERVIEW

Makerere University School of Public Health invites applications for a one-week training course in Public Health in Complex Emergencies (PHCE) short course that will take place on 6th – 11th November, 2023. The goal of the course is to enhance the capacity of humanitarian assistance workers and their organisations to respond to health needs of refugees and displaced persons affected by these emergencies. With a curriculum developed by field staff from humanitarian, academia and international organisations, participants are exposed to enriching concepts like weapons and trauma, the context of emergencies, epidemiology, security, communicable diseases control, psychology issues, environmental health and reproductive health. Our Programme is crafted for NGO/PVO, UN, Ministry of Health staff, Health Coordinators, Programme Managers, Medical Officers and District Health Officers.

This course is intended to strengthen/build capacity for professionals to design and implement IE studies as well as evaluate the impact of programs.
