Biography
Dr. Mugambe received a Bachelor of Environmental Health Sciences degree from Makerere University; a Masters in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University, the Netherlands; and a PhD in Global Health from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. His research focuses on environmental microbial exposures, Neglected tropical diseases, Urban Health, climate change as well as Water, sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) in institutions (health facilities and schools), slums and emergencies. Some of his previous work includes research on: Using novel tools in quantifying and tracking pathogens in urban and rural environments Estimation of the effects of WASH interventions in controlling the transmission of infectious diseases Behavior change interventions for improving WASH practices in health facilities and slums Sustainable development goals (SDGs): Governance, trade-offs and synergies in urban slums His research has been funded by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the Dutch Research Council, & the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation among others.
