Biography
Stella Kakeeto is the Grants Manager at Makerere University School of Public Health with over ten years of experience in research and grants management. She has been instrumental in strengthening research systems at Makerere and supporting similar initiatives across Africa. From 2020 to 2023, she led an NIH-funded project that built institutional capacity in grants management and inspired replication in other universities. She has also advanced her expertise through fellowships such as the Carnegie Corporation–funded UASP/IREX Programme and the NIH Fogarty International Center’s COHRE Programme.
Stella has engaged in international learning exchanges with Nottingham Trent University (ERASMUS), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, the University of Cape Town, Tulane School of Public Health, and Michigan State University. Her contributions have earned global recognition, including the Future of the Field Award from the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI) and Research Management Professional (RMP) certification from the International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC), both in 2023. She serves as an Executive Member of the Eastern Africa Research and Innovation Management Association (EARIMA) and is an active member of SRAI.
