Biography
Dr. Jimmy Osuret is a Public Health Specialist and Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). He holds a PhD in Public Health from Makerere University, an MSc in Public Health from Oxford Brookes University (UK), and a Bachelor of Environmental Health Science from Makerere University.
With over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and community service, Dr. Osuret has led and contributed to multi-year collaborative research and implementation projects, and has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications. His expertise spans injury epidemiology, trauma and disability, road safety, childhood burns, disaster risk management, environmental and occupational health, and health services research. Dr. Osuret has supervised both postgraduate and undergraduate students, co-developed context-specific training manuals, and played a role in the design of national and regional health strategies. He has secured competitive research grants and consultancies in areas such as road safety, disaster resilience, and burns care. Through this work, he continues to drive evidence-informed policies and interventions that strengthen health systems and reduce the burden of injuries and public health emergencies in Africa.
