Biography
Ruth Mubeezi Neebye is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health from Makerere University and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, with a specialization in Environmental Health Policy, from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
Ruth has extensive teaching and research experience in environmental health, including safe water management, solid waste management, wastewater technologies, health risk assessment, occupational health, environmental legislation, climate change, environmental disaster management, and human–environment interactions. She teaches across both undergraduate and graduate programmes, including the Bachelor of Environmental Health Science, Master of Public Health, and Master of Disaster Management. Beyond her academic contributions, Ruth is a founding member (2003) and long-serving Patron (since 2007) of the Makerere University Environmental Health Students’ Association. Through this platform, she has spearheaded community outreach initiatives such as health sensitisation and community cleaning, and has provided mentorship to numerous students over the years.
