Steven Ssendagire is currently working as a Senior Resident Mentor with the Health Policy Planning and Management (HPPM) Department of Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). His primary responsibility with MakSPH is to socialize Master of Public Health (MPH) officers into the world of Public Health Practice. Steven has also been and is still involved in writing and managing a number of research related projects implemented by MakSPH. Steven Ssendagire is a Pharmacist by undergraduate training with a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Previously, Steven has worked with the International Medical Group (IMG) as a Pharmacist, MakSPH as an academic mentor and project coordinator, with International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a training coordinator and most recently as an Epidemiologist with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (ESD) at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Uganda.
Steven Ssendagire has extensive interest and practical experience in multi-country project management, Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR), capacity strengthening for outbreak preparedness and response, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of infectious disease surveillance systems, implementation of International Health Regulations (IHR), Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) assessment, coordination of infectious disease preparedness, outbreak investigation and coordination of disease outbreak response using the Incident Management System (IMS). Steven’s current research interests include collaborative governance and coordination of resources for responding to infectious disease outbreaks.
