Job Description: Activity Coordinator Legal Environment Assessment Activity

The KP-CSO program, with finding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aims to address barriers to healthcare and human rights faced by key populations in Uganda, in alignment with the UNAIDS and PEPFAR priorities.


Job Summary: The LEA Activity Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the execution and monitoring of the Legal Environment Assessment (LEA) activity which focuses on fostering strategic policy and civil society organizations engagements to remove legal and human rights barriers for key populations (KPs). This role is pivotal in addressing the challenges generally faced by KPs, and more so in light of the recent legislative changes in Uganda.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy & Implementation: Oversee the implementation of strategic activities aimed at engaging with policy and civil society stakeholders.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with national and local government representatives, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  3. Program Monitoring: Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy and objectives.
  4. Reporting: Document progress, challenges, and successes and report to relevant parties.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with KP-CSOs, consultants, health workers, law enforcement, and judiciary officials to ensure seamless execution of planned activities.
  6. Capacity Building: Strengthen KP-led organizations through training, technical assistance, and support.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master's in Public Health.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience working directly with or on behalf of key populations.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of the HIV/AIDS landscape in Uganda.
  4. Familiarity with Uganda's legal and policy environment, particularly concerning KPs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in health, human rights, and law.
  2. Proven track record of engaging with high-level stakeholders, including government officials and international organizations.

Job Summary: The Activity Coordinator will be responsible for spearheading the Gender Sensitivity and Diversity (GSD) training programs, ensuring that they are relevant, impactful, and aligned with the current sociopolitical context of Uganda.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Assessment: Review and adapt the existing GSD training curriculum to ensure its applicability in the contemporary Ugandan context.
  2. Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster partnerships with stakeholders, including the CDC, MoH, and key population community organizations, to ensure comprehensive GSD training.

Job Summary: The Activity Coordinator will manage the adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of the stigma and discrimination toolkit designed to address barriers faced by PLHIV and key populations. This role is instrumental in ensuring the toolkit's effectiveness and relevance in the current Ugandan context.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Toolkit Review & Adaptation: Collaborate with experts to review and adapt the current toolkit, ensuring its alignment with the challenges presented by recent legislative changes and other relevant factors.

Job Summary: The GSD Officer will be responsible for assisting the GSD Activity Coordinator in the daily operations and execution of the gender and sexual diversity training activity. This position will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth implementation of GSD training programs, capacity-building activities, and stakeholder engagement efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support in Training & Workshops: Assist in organizing, executing, and monitoring GSD training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building exercises.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with relevant stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and key populations, ensuring their active participation and feedback in the GSD initiative.
  3. Resource Management: Help in the preparation, distribution, and inventory of training materials, manuals, and other essential resources.
  4. Monitoring & Reporting: Assist in tracking the progress of training sessions, gathering feedback, and preparing detailed reports for review by the GSD Activity Coordinator and other senior stakeholders.
