Prof Rhoda Wanyenze has called upon different Heads of Departments to integrate grant - writing in the university curriculum. She made the remarks at a one-day Heads of Departments workshop on Friday, 9th, August 2019, which aimed at discussing strategies to build a sustainable research culture and research management systems.

In her presentation, Prof Wanyenze proposed grant - writing as a way of skilling students to be able to generate better proposals, and enhance research capabilities. She explained that effective research leadership should focus on building competences of other people, mentorship of young researchers, creating a difference and changing lives of People.

Notable in attendance at the workshop were the Vice Chancellor Makerere University, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Dr Umar Kakumba, and the Dean Makerere University School of Women and Gender Studies, Prof Sarah Ssali.
