Biography

Dr. Simon P. Kigozi is a Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). He is an epidemiologist with a background in Information Technology (BSc, Kyambogo University, 2009) and Health Informatics (MSc, Walden University, 2012). He earned his PhD in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London, in 2020.
His research focuses on the epidemiology of infectious diseases—including malaria, pneumonia, and HIV- population risk and surveillance, spatial epidemiology, environmental health, and health informatics. He currently leads the SHIFTS study, which evaluates the impact of targeted malaria control interventions in Uganda using comprehensive surveillance metrics. Beyond research, Dr. Kigozi is passionate about building researcher capacity, teaching, and contributing to editorial excellence in public health scholarship.
