Biography
Mr. Omodo Michael is the Chief Laboratory Technician in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH). With over three years of experience in academia and research, he plays a central role in supporting the teaching and organization of practical sessions for students in the Bachelor of Environmental Health (BEH) and Master of Environmental and Occupational Health (MEOH) programs.
He is currently pursuing a PhD at Makerere University and holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and Laboratory Management, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology, both from Makerere University. He also completed a fellowship in antimicrobial resistance surveillance at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Mr. Michael has undertaken a wide range of professional short courses, including laboratory management, infectious diseases, biosafety and biosecurity, molecular diagnostics, virology, and microbial culture and sensitivity testing. Beyond his academic work, he is an active member of the National One Health Platform, serving on the sub-technical committee for antimicrobial resistance surveillance.
