Who We Are
Makerere University School of Public Health Christian Union (MakSPH-CU) is a student-led fellowship that brings together Christian believers from all denominations. MakSPH-CU serves as a beacon of faith, fellowship, and hope, offering students an opportunity to grow spiritually and navigate the challenges of university life. In an academic environment where future public health professionals are trained, MakSPH-CU fosters integrity, compassion, and service, in line with the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Since its establishment in 2003, MakSPH-CU has played a key role in mentoring students in their Christian journey, shaping graduates who continue to make a difference in public health and beyond through godly leadership and service. What We Do
Thursday Weekly Fellowships: Strengthening the Walk with Jesus Christ
Every Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, students gather for worship, testimony sharing, prayer, and reflection. These fellowships provide a spiritual recharge, reminding believers that despite academic and work pressures, God remains the source of strength and wisdom.Inspiration Mondays: Fuel Your Faith, Empower Your Week
Mondays at MakSPH are more than just the start of a new week; they are an opportunity to ignite faith and draw inspiration from one another. From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, believers within MakSPH and the entire College of Health Sciences gather to share testimonies, encourage each other in faith, and engage in uplifting discussions. These sessions not only strengthen faith in Jesus Christ but also improve communication skills and foster mental health solidarity through interactive and fun engagements. End-of-Semester Prayer Retreats: Deepening Our Faith At the close of every semester, students retreat to Prayer Mountain in Seguku for a full day of intense prayer, spiritual reflection, and fellowship, free from daily distractions. These retreats often include MakSPH alumni, who provide mentorship and encouragement on walking with Christ beyond university life. Community Outreaches: Putting Faith into Action At the beginning of each semester, members reach out to underprivileged communities to share the gospel and provide hope. Through preaching, prayer, and the donation of essential materials, students live out their faith by serving others in need. Daily Devotions: Anchoring in the Word of God Every morning, scripture is shared to encourage believers to meditate on God’s word and apply it in their daily lives. These messages serve as a constant reminder of God’s promises, keeping believers spiritually nourished amidst academic and personal pressures. Our Leadership: A Legacy of Service MakSPH-CU is led by a dedicated team of servant-leader students under the guidance of the Union Patron, Dr. Geofrey Musinguzi. The leadership structure includes a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Organizing Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Finance Secretary, Prayer Secretary, two Choir Leaders, and Class Representatives. Through these roles, students develop selfless leadership and service skills that extend beyond university life. They stand on the shoulders of their predecessors, who continue to offer guidance and support, building on the foundation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Acts 6:4 “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” Hallelujah!
