Science and Health Communications Specialist | Strategic Communication Executive | Media & Knowledge Management Lead

Ndyabahika is a seasoned science and health communications professional with a strong background in journalism, public relations, and strategic communication. Since 2020, he has served as the Communications Officer at Makerere University School of Public Health, where he plays an instrumental role in shaping the School’s public image, advancing knowledge translation, and managing internal and external communications. His portfolio includes leading the development of the School’s communications strategy, branding assets, and knowledge management systems, bridging academia, research, and public engagement.

He is a graduate of Journalism and Communication studies and currently advancing training in corporate and strategic communication, currently finalizing graduate research in this field at Makerere University. His work is anchored in a deep understanding of public health, an ability to translate complex scientific content into accessible narratives, and a strategic mindset that aligns communications with institutional goals.

Ndyabahika brings over a decade of experience in multimedia journalism, digital strategy, stakeholder engagement, and content development. His expertise spans graphic design, video production, success story writing, photography, web and social media management, and M\&E of communication interventions. He has led communications for major public health projects including the RMNCAH Operations Research Programme supported by the World Bank and SIDA, the Public Health Fellowship Program as a document specialist, and multisectoral capacity-building initiatives for fragile health systems in Africa.

Before joining MakSPH, he worked with the Uganda Radio Network -URN and contributed to leading media outlets such as The Observer, The Independent Magazine, ChimpReports, The Campus Times, and The Makererean. His reporting and editorial work have informed and inspired diverse audiences across Uganda and beyond.

As a former Guild Information Minister at Makerere University, he has consistently demonstrated leadership, vision, and a passion for elevating institutional communication. He continues to serve as a bridge between science and society, advocating for evidence-based public discourse and strengthening the visibility and impact of public health initiatives.
