MakSPH 2024 Annual Report

MakSPH 2024 Annual Report

We are pleased to share the 2024 Annual Report of Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), a reflection of a year marked by collective achievement, growth, and renewed dedication to advancing public health in Uganda, the region, and beyond.

This year, we concluded our strategic plan and adopted a new five-year roadmap (2025–2030), positioning the School to respond with agility to an evolving health landscape. We also marked a defining milestone, commemorating 70 years of public health training in Uganda, and with it, major advances in human resources for the country and beyond and infrastructure development that will shape the future of research, training, and service.

In January 2025, MakSPH officially became a stand-alone School, following approval by the Makerere University Council, an important step toward institutional autonomy, enhanced reach, and greater impact.

Our efforts remained focused on producing evidence that informs policy and practice. In 2024, our faculty and students contributed 344 peer-reviewed publications, while our partnerships and programs continued to drive real-world change.

This report highlights progress across our four strategic pillars: Transformative Education, Knowledge Generation and Translation, Strategic Partnerships, and Institutional Capacity Enhancement.

Together, we continue to shape a healthier future. Enjoy the read.
