Dr. David Musoke is an Associate Professor in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), Kampala, Uganda. He is the Chair of the Grants and Research Capacity Building Committee and Coordinator of the short course in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) at MakSPH. He is an Affiliate Member of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS). His research interests include environmental health (including WASH), health systems (such as human resources for health, particularly community health workers—CHWs, and health-seeking behavior), antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, One Health, and infectious diseases (particularly malaria and outbreaks). He has also used photovoice, a community-based participatory research methodology, in his research, including among youth and CHWs. He spearheaded the organisation of the first-ever International Symposium on CHWs in 2017, and the 3rd International Federation of Environmental Health World Academic Conference in 2019 both held in Uganda. Currently, he is the President Elect of the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH). He is an Academic Editor for PLOS Global Public Health, BMC Public Health, and BMC Health Services Research. He is also a Senior Visiting Fellow at Nottingham Trent University (UK), as well as External Examiner at the University of Malawi (Malawi), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya), and Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi. His scholarly outputs to date include over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 4 book chapters, supervision of over 50 (undergraduate and postgraduate) students’ research to completion, over 100 international conference presentations, and over 30 online blogs.
