Dr. Solomon Wafula is a Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health. He holds a PhD in Medicine (Epidemiology) from the University of Hamburg, Germany; a Master of Public Health from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom; a Master of Epidemiology from the University of Antwerp, Belgium; and a Bachelor of Environmental Health Science Degree from Makerere University, Uganda. Dr. Wafula supports teaching, medical and public health research, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. His research expertise spans Environmental Epidemiology, Climate Change, Maternal, Child and Newborn health & Health Disparities Research. He has authored over 70 articles in internationally reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented at several national and international conferences/meetings.
In 2025, he won the Drs. Anvar and Pari Velji Young African Leader Award for exceptional ability and commitment to improving the well-being of individuals in low-income settings.
