Dr. Marianna Agaba Nyangire is an Assistant Lecturer of Occupational Health in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health. She holds a Master of Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Turin, Italy, a Master of Public Health from Makerere University, Uganda and a Certificate in Occupational Health from the University of Bergen, Norway. Her Bachelor’s Degree is in Human Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) is from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda.
Prior to this position, she served as an Occupational Physician in the Department of Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. She has experience in the area of Occupational risk and disease prevention as well as other related research activities. Marianna has a strong great passion for transforming workplace health through training, advocacy and promotion.
She is the current National Secretary for International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) and also serves as a member of the ‘Effectiveness in Occupational Health Services (EOHS)’ and ‘Accident Prevention’ sub-committees.
