Dr. John B. Isunju

Dr. John Bosco Isunju is a Lecturer in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health. He has a Bachelor of Environmental Health Science (BEH) degree from Makerere University; a Masters of Integrated Water Resources Management (MIWRM) from the University of Dar es Salaam; and a PhD in Geography and Environmental Studies from Stellenbosch University.

His fields of specialty and research interests include Environmental Health; specifically, pathways through which the environment impacts health and wellbeing, including access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food safety, environmental pollution, infectious diseases, Geospatial Health and disaster risk reduction.

Previously, he worked as a Public Health Specialist for the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment; he has also been a Lead Consultant on multiple assignments with leading practitioners such as International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), WHO, Concern Worldwide, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Living Water International (LWI), The Uganda Red Cross, GOAL Uganda, Resource Oriented Sanitation (ROSA), UNESCO-IHE, IDRC, HED, ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), SNV, GiZ, WaterAid, Amref Africa, Ministry of Health among others.
