Patience Oputan

Ms. Patience Oputan is a Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health at Makerere University School of Public Health, with over six years of experience in public health. Her work spans diverse areas, including malaria (entomological surveillance), water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), environment and climate change, HIV, sexual and reproductive health rights, maternal and child health, and gender-based violence prevention.

Patience holds a BSc in Social Sciences and an MSc in Public Health, both from Makerere University. She brings expertise in research, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder engagement. She has been actively involved in health outbreak surveillance efforts, including COVID-19, Ebola, and monkeypox. Her collaborations include partnerships with government ministries, NGOs, and international organizations such as AFENET, WHO, Deltares NL, and the Global Centre for Climate Mobility.

An accomplished researcher with over 10 publications, Patience is dedicated to advancing public health knowledge and practice. Guided by her passion for excellence, she aspires to become one of the most distinguished global scientists of her generation.
