Ronald Ssenyonga is a Biostatistician and a research associate at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences at Makerere University. For over 13 years, Ronald has worked on both experimental and observational research. From, designing studies (sample size determination, randomization, developing data management and analysis plans), implementation (managing data from regional and national surveys, multisite clinical trials, leading teams of data managers, IT and analysts), close-out (data analysis, reports (study reports, manuscripts, high-level summaries, generating policy/ evidence briefs). With postgraduate training in epidemiology and biostatistics, he has contributed to over 20 clinical trials, 30 regional and national survey evaluations along with over 30 peer reviewed publications. He currently leads the data management, analysis and IT team for the Performance Monitoring for Action in Uganda – a project that is implemented in over 11 countries. Ronald’s research interests cut across various disciplines from disease modelling in HIV and TB, increasing community engagement in HIV/AIDS clinical trials, adolescent health, mental health, mHealth, sexual and reproductive health and a new found love for investigating how to improve people’s abilities to appraise claims about effects of health interventions to make better health choices.
