Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health has received funding from WHO through MoH to undertake Monitoring and Evaluation of the Oral Cholera and Covid-19 Vaccine (OVC) Roll Out in 6 Districts, Uganda.

The overall objective is to Monitor and evaluate the integrated OCV campaign implementation in six districts so as to identify gaps, document experiences, and challenges during implementation and propose measures to address the gaps during future campaigns in Uganda. In addition, we shall assess KP towards Covid 19 vaccine among the providers and community as well as determine water and sanitation coverage.

MAKSPH seeks to recruit 54 highly experienced and competent Research Assistants (RAs) and Field Supervisors to support the implementation of the study.

Job Title: Research Assistants (54)

Qualifications and Experience.

  • At least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a medical background (medical doctor, pharmacy, nurse, midwife, laboratory technology)
  • Experience in conducting Household surveys. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Qualitative and Quantitative Data Collection. 
  • Experience in Electronic Data Collection using software like, ODK.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and stringent guidelines.
  • Experience in mapping and listing.
  • A valid certificate in Good Clinical Practice and or Human Subject Research is an added advantage.
  • Ability to read, speak and write any of the following local languages; Rukonjo, Madi, Lugbara, Samia, Swahili and Lusoga.

Duties:

  • Conduct sampling, both purposive sampling and stratified equal probability systematic sampling techniques
  • Explaining the need for the study to the respondents and obtain their consent to take part in it; then administer questions/ interviews in-person.
  • Record accurate and thorough answers using appropriate electronic devices.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all collected data.
  • Exercised courtesy and professionalism to all respondents.
  • Keep good records of the interviews and surveys conducted.
  • Review collected data obtained from interviews/ surveys for completeness and accuracy, before submission.
  • Meet regularly with the Supervisor to turn in the survey results/ interview data on an on-going basis.
  • Notify management incase an electronic device or other study equipment is missing or is not
  • Attend all trainings and participate in all preparatory activities prior to data collection.

Duty Stations: The successful candidate will be working in any of following districts; Kasese, Ntoroko, Namayingo, Busia, Madi Okollo, Obongi
