About CITY-MOVE Project

CityMove (City-based Interventions to Stimulate Active Movement for Health) aims to research how healthier urban environments can reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Supported by nine organizations and 50 international researchers, CityMove will study the impact of 13 physical activity interventions in six cities across Europe, Africa, and Latin America. The initiative seeks to adapt the Global Action Plan on Physical Activity (GAPPA) and develop a framework to evaluate the scalability of actions that promote physical activity among the least active or vulnerable groups.

Funded by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Programme, Makerere University collaborates with a consortium that includes the University of Antwerp (Belgium, Coordinator), Erasmus University (Netherlands), Community Health Centre Ljubljana (Slovenia), University of Essex (UK), Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (Peru), Fundación Universitaria Juan N. Corpas (Colombia), Walk21 Europe (Netherlands), and the City of Antwerp. CITY-MOVE will implement the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity in the selected cities to learn from diverse cultural and economic contexts.

We look forward to your participation in this important event as we work together towards a healthier, more sustainable future.
