Event Details

The DASH Network, a research initiative focused on adolescent health in sub-Saharan Africa, has been invited to present its work at the Science Summit during the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79). The summit offers a platform for fostering scientific collaboration and knowledge sharing across various disciplines and sectors. DASH, short for the "Research Network for the Design and Evaluation of Adolescent Health Interventions and Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa," aims to enhance adolescent health through policy-driven, population-based research.

Representing DASH, Prof. David Guwatudde from Makerere University School of Public Health and Prof. Angela Chukwu from the University of Ibadan Research Foundation will each deliver 10-minute presentations. Their talks will cover research on adolescent health in sub-Saharan Africa, capacity-building efforts, and policy-making strategies, with a focus on the DASH project's work.

The DASH Network, comprising institutions from seven Sub-Saharan countries, two from Germany, and one from the United States, works across three key areas: nutrition and physical activity, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health and violence. The UN General Assembly Science Summit will run from the 10th to the 27th of September 2024, with DASH’s presentations scheduled for 19th September 2024, between 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm East African Time or 9:00 am – 1:00 pm New York Time.
