In a departure from the conventional concrete structures that dominate college campuses, Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) is crafting a new space that transcends traditional boundaries, fostering collaboration, innovation, and a sense of community.

Building the new MakSPH Building is a ground-breaking initiative that MakSPH, a constituent School in the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University, embarked on in February 2020 as a leading institution in public health research and training in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This state-of-the-art complex, tucked away on the eastern part of the Makerere University Main Campus in Kampala, is scheduled to open its big auditorium on March 15, 2024.

More than merely physical space, the MakSPH Building is a bold effort to provide state-of-the-art amenities for the upcoming generation of public health professionals. Beyond that, it seeks to strengthen the scientific capabilities of Makerere University, especially in addressing urgent problems like the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ebola virus sickness, and other difficult public health issues.

An eight-story office building sitting 12,614 square meters will be constructed as part of this ambitious project. It will house lecture halls, tutorial rooms, innovation labs, and auditoriums. It also has spaces earmarked for postdoctoral trainees, doctoral students, and research fellows. With the fully fitted facility projected to cost $10,000,000, we respectfully seek your support to see the landmark project to to a successful completion.

Designed as a central hub for teaching, research, and community engagement, the MakSPH Building is envisioned as a dynamic space where students majoring across various public health disciplines can immerse themselves in learning both within and beyond the typical classroom setting.

We invite you to support this cause so that you can work with us to shape the direction of public health research and teaching in the future. To get involved in this life-changing experience, visit https://sph.mak.ac.ug/givedonate. Let's work together to build a better, healthier tomorrow.
