About the PhD study
Jimmy Osuret is a Research Associate in the Department of Disease Control and Environmental Health, with research interests focused on trauma, injury, and disability. His PhD research addresses the high pedestrian road traffic burden in Uganda, where pedestrian crashes account for 35% of road fatalities. Using a mixed-methods and analytical approach, Jimmy's PhD study examined the opportunities, barriers, and factors influencing child pedestrian safety. Additionally, he explored the effectiveness of a school traffic warden intervention in improving driver yield (giving pedestrians the right of way) and enhancing child pedestrian crossing behavior at school zones in Kampala, Uganda.
