According to the World Health Organization's Country Disease Outlook for Uganda, non-communicable diseases accounted for 36% of deaths in 2019—nearly three out of ten fatalities. The percentage of individuals classified as overweight or obese has risen from 19.4% in 2014 to 24.1% in 2023, while alcohol consumption among current drinkers has increased from 28.5% to 31.1%. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for effective public health interventions.
